Business Talk
This course will use a combination of simulation, readings and class discussions to develop effective approaches to conducting business and reaching agreement in international business negotiation. Students will be introduced to cross-cultural communication styles, national business expectations, and political interests that may diverge from the familiar and can often impede cross-border agreements. We will draw upon theory and cases to analyze specific international business negotiations and, through dynamic simulation, gain hands-on experience in international business strategy, negotiation, conflict resolution, mediation and arbitration.
Competitive Strategy
This course studies how entrepreneurs and general managers might create investor value (above-normal returns) through the development and implementation of competitive strategies around market entry, exit, or expansion. Competitive strategy is a critical input to these firm decisions. To that end, we discuss and apply the key analytic competitive strategy concepts, frameworks and tools.
Manufacturing Strategy
This course examines the management challenges posed by the growth in worldwide manufacturing capabilities, markets, and competition and by rapid advances in technology and the concomitant decline in product life cycles. The manufacturing function is considered within a broader context encompassing design, engineering, purchasing, marketing, and customer service in an effort to assess the degree to which existing management structures successfully meet the challenges arising from the changing manufacturing environment.

This course is an introduction to the concepts, principles, problems, and practices of successful service operations management. Emphasis is focused on preparing students to identify and apply appropriate management processes to ensure efficient, effective, and quality oriented service operations, while achieving operational excellence. Topics covered include: the role of services in the economy, strategic positioning and internet strategies, environmental strategies, new service development process, managing service expectations, front-office back-office interface, service quality, yield management, waiting time management, and site selection.

The course introduces basic theory and method in strategy management of enterprise, which includes the meaning, origin and development of strategic management, the analysis of external and internal environment, options for corporate strategy and business unit strategy, common methods of strategic evaluations. It also contains the implementation of the strategic programs in functions of the organizational structure and the areas of strategy and corporate culture, strategies for effective control and cases about strategy management of enterprise at home and abroad. Operations Management (OM): The management of the efficient transformation of inputs into outputs to suitably satisfy customers. Inputs are materials, labor, capital and management. Outputs are products or services, which customers want and often pay for. The course provides an introduction to the operations and the related management concepts. The level of discussion varies from strategical to daily control of business processes.
Logistics management
This course introduces logistics/physical distribution and supply, and the related costs. It provides a systematic overview and analysis of the elements of logistics functions in widely varying types of industries and agencies, including handling, warehousing, inventory control and financial controls.

Corporate Finance
"This is a first class in Corporate Finance. This class involves the answers to three questions. First is the capital budgeting decision, which is about what long term investments should the firm take on. Second is the financing decision, which is about how can cash be raised for the required investment. Lastly, it examines short term finance and concern net working capital and discusses the way the firm manage its day-to-day cash and financial affairs. At the end of this course, students should be able to think analytically about portfolio selection, corporate decision making and asset pricing. These skills can also be used as personal financial decisions."
Marketing
Marketing Management is designed to serve as an introduction to the theory and practice of marketing. Students will improve their ability to develop effective marketing strategies and assess market opportunities, as well as design strategy implementation programs. In addition, students will have the opportunity to communicate and defend their recommendations and build upon the recommendations of their peers. We will explore the theory and applications of marketing concepts through a mix of cases, discussions, lectures, guest speakers, individual assignments, and group projects. We will draw materials from a variety of sources and settings including services, consumer and business-to-business products.
Organization and Management
This course outlines today's major challenges facing the management profession. The course uses interactive exercises, simulations and problems to develop critical skills in negotiations, teamwork and leadership. Students will be introduced to concepts and tools to analyze work and leadership experiences in optional undergraduate fieldwork projects.

Macroeconomics
This course teaches macroeconomics at the intermediate level. It elaborates on the main macro economics topics including national income, money and inflation, unemployment, business cycles and economics growth. The basic analytical framework such as the IS-LM model is taught through which the key macro economic variables and their interactions can be studied. The course also discusses government economic policies and their implications. As time permits, a brief introductory to modern macroeconomics theories will be given.
