A few PhD/Postdoc positions with full scholarship/support are available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), in the area of structural engineering. The Hong Kong PolyU is a public research university located in Hung Hom, Hong Kong. It is one of the eight government-funded degree-granting tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. The university ranks 65th in the QS World University Rankings 2023, with its Civil & Structural Engineering raking top 15th globally.
About the positions
The students/postdocs will work closely with Associate Professor Kaiming Bi on a variety of Structural Dynamics related research topics.

申请要求
The candidates with strong background in metamaterials, floating offshore structures, impact engineering, structural vibration control, green materials, earthquake engineering, modular structures and machine learning are preferred.
For the PhD student: the studying period will be 3-4 years. The expected starting time is fall 2023. The candidate should at least hold a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours (or equivalent qualification), conferred by a recognised university. The candidate should also meet the following English requirement:
• An overall score of at least 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); OR
• A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 or above for the Internet-based test or 550 or above for the paper-based test.
• The undergraduate university should be QS/THE/ARWU World Top-500 Universities or Top-150 Subjects;
• GPA>3.2/4.0

Dr. Kaiming Bi
Dr Kaiming Bi joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) as an Associate Professor (Presidential Young Scholars Scheme) in January 2023. Before joining PolyU, he was an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow and Associate Professor in the Centre for Infrastructure Monitoring and Protection at Curtin University, Australia. Dr Bi\'s research interests mainly include Structural Vibration Control, Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering. He has generated more than 130 peer-reviewed papers in the well-known international journals. His research papers have attracted more than 4000 citations in Google Scholar with an H-index of 35. Dr Bi has won quite a few highly competitive research grants from ARC, including the prestigious Future Fellowship and Discovery Early Career Award. He received the JM Ko Medal from Advances in Structural Engineering-An International Journal in 2016, he was one of the finalists of the prestigious Western Australia Premier’s Science Awards Early Career Scientist of the Year in 2016, he also received the High Achieving Young Investigator Award from the University of Western Australia in 2012. He is an Associate Editor of the top structural engineering journal Engineering Structures. Dr Bi\'s research achievements can be found from:
