About
Although Berlin is an international city, you will find it much easier to understand your surroundings and enjoy the city if you have acquired some basics in German. German is still an important language for business, science, and the arts, and is the most widely spoken language in Europe - plus, it's easy to learn for English-speaking students.
Our German language course addresses the needs of beginners. The content of the course follows the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for level A1.1 (beginners with no prior knowledge).

Course aim
Competencies in German equivalent to the competencies level A1.1 of the Common European Framework of References for Languages. These are for example:
-Successful students will understand and use very simple, familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases. They learn to introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where somebody lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
-Students will learn to read very simple sentences and to understand very basic phrases, numbers or the ABC. They get an insight into the difference between formal and informal speech.
-Students will learn to use simple phrases and sentences to describe where they live, what they are studying and some more basic personal facts.
-Students will learn to write short, simple texts about basic personal facts.
-Students will get an introduction into German grammar, esp. into present conjugation of regular and irregular verbs, basic rules of article use and grammatical gender in German, basic rules of plural formation in German. Students will also be introduced into the some fundamental rules of German pronunciation and orthography.
