暑期学校介绍
City: Msida Language: English Credits: 0 EC About The Acute Medicine Summer School is an intensive, multidisciplinary programme designed to bridge clinical practice with cutting-edge biomedical science. Moving beyond traditional organ-based approaches, the course focuses on acute illness as a dynamic, whole-body process shaped by host response biology. Participants will explore the mechanisms underlying conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, and shock, integrating physiology, immunology, and translational research with real-world clinical decision-making. Delivered by an international faculty of clinicians and scientists, the programme combines lectures, practical demonstrations, and interactive workshops to provide a comprehensive learning experience across training levels. The Summer School aims to equip participants with a systems-level understanding of acute medicine, while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and engagement with emerging precision medicine approaches in acute medicine. From Oxygen to Host Response Biology: Rethinking Acute Medicine An intensive international summer school integrating clinical practice with cutting-edge science, equipping participants to understand, stratify, and manage acute illness in the era of precision medicine. Course aim Concept and educational philosophy This accredited summer school is designed for BSc, MSc, MD, PhD and postdoctoral participants. Rather than organizing learning around traditional organ-based silos, the program takes a host response and systems medicine perspective. 申请要求
This Summer School is designed for highly motivated individuals with an interest in acute and critical illness, spanning both clinical practice and biomedical science. We welcome applications from: - Undergraduate students (BSc) in biomedical sciences, medicine, or related disciplines seeking advanced exposure to acute medicine and translational research - Postgraduate students (MSc, MD) aiming to deepen their understanding of pathophysiology and clinical decision-making in critical care - PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers interested in host-response biology, systems immunology, and precision medicine approaches to acute illness - Clinicians and healthcare professionals (including trainees in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and intensive care) wishing to integrate mechanistic insights with clinical practice - The programme is particularly suited to individuals interested in bridging mechanisms and medicine, and in developing a systems-level understanding of diseases such as sepsis, respiratory failure, and shock. - Participants will benefit most if they have a basic grounding in human biology or clinical medicine and a strong interest in interdisciplinary learning. Places are limited to ensure an interactive learning environment and close engagement with faculty.
