PhD直招介绍
You will join the Centre for Methodology of Educational Sciences (CMPO) at KU Leuven, one of Europe’s most renowned research universities. CMPO is part of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences and is internationally recognised for its expertise in advanced research methodology, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Prof. Melissa De Smet leads innovative qualitative and mixed-methods research focused on idiographic applications in research and practice. You will join the research line on qualitative research and methodological innovation with a focus on youth. Project Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the lives of young people and the world in which they grow and learn. Current AI tools—often considered “black boxes”—are characterised by a critical idiographic–nomothetic discrepancy. They are trained on static, aggregated data and therefore may fail to capture the dynamic, context-dependent nature of identity development and learning processes in young people. The IAmAI project proposes an innovative participatory methodological framework to bridge the idiographic needs of young people with the nomothetic strengths of AI. In this approach, AI applications are validated by placing adolescents at the centre of the development, validation, and implementation process. Within the scope of this project, your doctoral research will contribute to the development of qualitative participatory methodology aimed at understanding, developing, and validating interactions between young people and AI within their broader context. The focus lies on applications of personalisation (e.g. learning modules, interventions, and GenAI chatbots), which will be reconceptualised and methodologically rethought from the perspective of participation. Co-creation with young people is the guiding principle throughout the project. The results of this research will be translated into methodological and policy recommendations. During the four-year PhD project, you will: Conduct research on the above topic with the aim of obtaining a PhD degree; Publish English-language articles in recognised international scientific journals; Actively participate in international conferences and contribute to the development of methodological and policy recommendations; Provide teaching support for courses in the bachelor’s and/or master’s programmes in psychology and/or educational sciences. KU Leuven strives for an inclusive, respectful and socially safe environment. We embrace diversity among individuals and groups as an asset. Open dialogue and differences in perspective are essential for an ambitious research and educational environment. In our commitment to equal opportunity, we recognize the consequences of historical inequalities. We do not accept any form of discrimination based on, but not limited to, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, ethnic or national background, skin colour, religious and philosophical diversity, neurodivergence, employment disability, health, or socioeconomic status.
