All participants in the International Human Rights Exchange (IHRE) programme live in International House, a mixed-gender residence hall located on the main campus of the University of Witwatersrand. As its name suggests, students living in International House reside with other international students from African countries and other parts of the world.
Dorms are within easy walking distance to classes, the student union, the cafeteria, the library, and the IHRE office. In International House, students live in singles. Each room is a small efficiency with an en suite bathroom and kitchenette. Students can cook for themselves, participate in the meal plan, or a combination of the two. Internet access and a telephone are provided in each room. Laundry facilities are easily accessible. There is also a TV room, common room, and study area.
