The university operates in two locations: in the city of Durham and at Queen's Campus, Stockton-on-Tees, both of which have excellent transport links to the rest of north east England. Both are located 2¾ hours from London and have two international airports close by: Newcastle International and Durham Tees Valley. Local amenities are within walking distance at both locations.

Every Durham University student belongs to a college, whether living in accommodation there or elsewhere; colleges? All university accommodation is based in one of the university's colleges, providing a variety of accommodation and catering options within a small, supportive community. As well as accommodation, colleges also have their own?student-led events, including balls, concerts and productions; and with students taking on roles and responsibilities?for running aspects of the college, also provide opportunities for leadership-development.
