地理位置
Texas A&M is located in the twin cities of Bryan and College Station, TX (aka “Aggieland”), an area with a population of 170,000 that practically revolves around the university community. College Station is in Central Texas — just a short way from both Austin and Dallas. The campus is 5,200 acres, one of the largest in the country. It is said that College Station got its name because prospective students and visitors often didn't know which stop to get off on the train to reach the university. So at the train station, someone took a board and wrote "college" on it, and nailed it above the sign that said "station." And thus College Station was born. College Station was named the most educated city in Texas and one of the most educated cities in the country by Money Magazine. The “Northgate” section of College Station is most frequented by students, with a lively music scene and great mix of restaurants and bars.

A railroad track runs through the middle of campus, literally splitting it in half. On the east side of the tracks is “Main Campus,” which houses many academic buildings as well as the major dining halls and dormitories. On the west side is the aptly named “West Campus,” which holds the sports facilities, the business school, the George Bush Library, and Research Park. Research Park provides businesses direct partnerships with Texas A&M. Several companies and non-profit research interests have offices in the park, including the Institute of Food Science and Engineering, the Electron Beam Food Research Facility and the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program. “The best on-campus student hangout has to be in the MSC flag room. The MSC is centrally located on campus and is near numerous bus stops, so students can wait for the bus or even just take a nap between classes. It is near a cafeteria, so students can eat in there as well. It’s filled with couches and comfy chairs to sit in, and tables line the outer walls for students who wish to study or finish homework."

宿舍条件
For students who are considering on-campus housing, is whether to live on the north or south side of campus. Northside dorms are located across the street from Northgate, one of the most popular places to eat and hang out. Various local bars and clubs are on the Northside, so there will be quite a bit of noise but plenty of activity. There is a cafeteria located just a block away from all of the Northside dorms, so students do not necessarily have to go out to eat all the time. Southside housing offers an entirely different atmosphere. These dorms are quieter and more removed from the main campus. One of the more popular dorms on this side of campus is the all-girls dorm, Krueger Hall. Barbecue pits are located in a small open area between these dorms, giving Southside a homey feel. Since these dorms are removed from main campus, there is virtually no traffic, except the students who park in the nearby parking garage. These dorms are also much closer to the main library on campus. Though each side of campus offers unique amenities, there are numerous amenities that come with any room. “Roughly eighty channels are offered by the cable television service, included in the rent of the room. For students who wish to do their own laundry, all of the residence halls are equipped with coin-operated washers and dryers or offer convenient access to laundry facilities on each floor. The university provides each residence hall with two high-speed Internet access ports so that if students share rooms, they at least do not have to share computers and internet time. Mail is not delivered to the residence hall rooms; however, mail boxes similar to P.O. boxes are offered to students who request them. The Department of Residence Life provides a service called Find a Roommate. This service allows students to fill out a survey and tries to match them up with another student who has the same interests. This helps roommates get along, make new friends, and make the year living in a dorm much more enjoyable. For parents, the safety of their child is a top priority.”

体育培养
The Aggies are members of the Big 12 Conference in Division I-A, and they're no strangers to athletic success. Students can compete in 20 varsity sports or in one of the largest intramural programs in the country. The school is constantly ranked among the best schools for athletes in the nation, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a group of students more committed to their teams than the Aggies. In 2006-2007, seven of Texas A&M’s women’s teams won Big 12 Championships – women’s soccer, basketball, indoor and outdoor track, golf, and swimming. A&M football games against archrival UT-Austin are some of the most exciting sporting events around — the stadiums are packed, and the energy is palpable. The team has competed in 30 bowl games since 1894, and many Aggies have gone on to play in the NFL.
