The university's main campus, Blindern, is in Norway's capital city and easily accessible from Oslo's city centre. The law school is in the city centre. Public transport in Oslo is plentiful, diverse and efficient. Students are eligible for discounted travel. Most international flights land at the Gardermoen Oslo Airport. Passengers can then take train, bus or taxi (which is expensive) to the university or its environs.

The university's old campus, strongly influenced by Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel's neoclassical style, is located in the centre of Oslo near the National Theatre, the Royal Palace and theParliament. The old campus was then occupied by the Faculty of Law and most of the other faculties have been transferred to the Blindern campus in the suburban West End, erected in the 1930s. The Faculty of Medicine is split between several university hospitals in the Oslo area.

International students are guaranteed accommodation (which may be in a shared room). The university has 7,700 rooms and apartments for students near campus and around town. Most international students will be housed in Kringsjå studentby (the student village). Prices vary from about £245 to £470 for rooms depending on size and facilities (NOK 2,200 - 4,200). Private accommodation costs start at approximately £895 per month for a 2-room apartment in central Oslo (NOK 8,000).
