DTU has facilities and research centres spread across Denmark. However, the main campus is in Lyngby, 15km north of Copenhagen. Several buses serve the campus and Lyngby train station, which is well-connected by rail to Denmark's major destinations, is 2km from campus. Niels Bohr was instrumental in the creation of Risø campus on the Risø peninsula. Originally a centre with a focus on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, the research at Risø has increasingly focussed on sustainable energy sources to meet global needs. Ballerup campus has a student body of 2,500, most of whom are BEng students. It is notable for its architecture; a large, light and art-filled two- or three-storey building covering 42,000 square metres. It has excellent parking facilities. The Malmparken stop of the Copenhagen's S-train network is 1.3m from campus and the 350S bus from Copenhagen serves the campus. For all campuses the nearest international airport is Copenhagen Airport. There are many trains and buses from the airport connecting it to the capital city and the rest of the country.

DTU can guarantee to find accommodation for international MSc students for a period of maximum 2 semesters. For the 3rd and 4th semester the MSc students have to find their own accommodation.
