UWA is nestled on the Swan River in Crawley just minutes from the centre of Perth and is often described as one of Australia’s most picturesque campuses. Perth has a high standard of living and the Economist Intelligence Unit has voted it one of the top 10 cities in the world in which to live (liveability ranking survey, 21 August 2011). The campus is easily accessible by public transport and full-time international students are entitled to concession on public transport fares.

The Housing Office at UWA offers support and information on housing options to help students decide where to live while at university. There are five residential colleges affiliated with or owned by UWA, providing a home for more than 1,000 students. The University owns a number of unfurnished properties close to Crawley campus. There is also a choice of privately owned off-campus, shared, rented, and full-board accommodation. The Housing Office can also advise on temporary accommodation for when international students first arrive in Perth.

Encouraging young sports people is a focus for the University. UWA Sports is a hub of extracurricular activity through the Recreate® programs. These courses include over 40 different active fitness, sport, dance, outdoor, lifestyle and aquatic programmes. Each year, students are also encouraged to participate in the annual Australian University Games, which is an opportunity to play sport against other universities.
