Accordingly, an applicant whose primary language is not English must demonstrate command of English sufficient to pursue graduate studies in the chosen field. Applicants normally will be required to achieve a minimum score of 7.0 on the International English LanguageTest System (IELTS - the academic NOT the general test) with a minimum of 6.5 in each section.GRE and TOEFL/IELTS scores must not be older than 2 years.

Applicants who have completed or are currently completing their post-secondary studies at an institution outside of Canada are required to take the Graduate Record Examination General Test (GRE). There is no minimum requirement however, please note that the GMAT cannot be substituted for the GRE. Send the official test results to Simon Fraser University through the test centre, using Institution Code 0999 and Department Code 1801.. The university does not require a GRE for admission to graduate programs, but some individual departments do.
