67All epidemiology degree program applicants are required to have three college-level credits of human biology course work. Examples of qualifying courses include general/introductory human biology, microbiology, cell biology, genetics, physiology, and anatomy. Advanced Placement (AP) biology course work does not fulfill the human biology prerequisite requirement. Applicants must fulfill all prerequisites before beginning a degree program.

The University of Pittsburgh requires a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the written test or 80 on the Internet test. Applicants with a TOEFL score lower than 550 or 80 are not eligible for admission.
