About the Project
Summary
This PhD project aims to develop AI/ML-enabled, physics-informed digital twin methodologies to better capture the dynamics of biopharmaceutical processes. The project will deliver tailored computational frameworks that integrate mechanistic and first-principles knowledge with data-driven models, enabling digital twins that can reduce reality gaps and support continuous learning in biomanufacturing. Candidates will have opportunities to focus on either upstream or downstream biopharmaceutical processing.

A 4-year structured PhD program at University College Dublin (UCD), School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering. The position includes a monthly stipend and a dedicated research budget to support attendance at international conferences and workshops, as well as relevant research expenses and equipment.

申请要求
Ideal Candidate
Applicants should hold an MSc in chemical/(bio)process engineering, AI/ML, systems engineering, or a related field. Experience with Python and machine learning frameworks is expected; prior knowledge in biomanufacturing technologies is a plus but not essential. Candidates should be passionate about advancing the digitalization of bioprocesses. The start date is expected to be September 2026.
