Description
Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) (Russian: Московский государственный университет имени М。 В。 Ломоносова) is a coeducational and public research university located in Moscow, Russia. It was founded on January 25, 1755 by Mikhail Lomonosov. MSU was renamed after Lomonosov in 1940 and was then known as Lomonosov University. It also claims to have the tallest educational building in the world. Its current rector is Viktor Sadovnichiy.

Since 1953, most of the faculties have been situated on Sparrow Hills, in the southwest of Moscow, 5km from the city centre. The MSU campus is extremely complex with more than 1,000 buildings. The fastest way to get to the city centre from the university is on the metro, a 10-minute walk from the university, and a 15-minutejourney into the city centre.

MSU has 8 dormitories, within a 5-minute walk from classes, housing over 12,000 students. Shared rooms (2 people) 7,000 RU per month; single room 14,000 RU per month. International students tend to be clustered away from Russian students within dorms. Wi-Fi is available as a paid service. Homestay accommodation is also offered to international students, at an additional cost but offering a more immersive experience.

There is a small gym, several outdoor football pitches, a baseball field, a running track, basketball hoops, and volleyball facilities. In winter, there is a ice skating on a temporary ice rink.
