The Institute for International Students is the official institution responsible for international student enrollment at Nanjing University. It is a national test site for the Chinese Proficiency Test(HSK),the Test of Practical Chinese (C.Test) and the Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language (TCFL) Capability Test. Nanjing University is one of the top 5 universities in China, and also one of the first to receive foreign students. It has hosted more than 10,000 international students from over 70 countries to date. Its graduates have gone on to become prominent politicians, businessmen and scholars, among others. The Institute comprises the Department of Chinese Language, the Department of TCFL, the Institute of Chinese-Foreign Culture Comparison Studies, the Postgraduates Center and the Teaching Materials Center for TCFL. It has developed a comprehensive programme on Chinese language and culture, and offers short term language training as well as degree programs (B.A., M.A., Ph.D)｡
