Since its founding in 1868, the heart of TUM beats in Munich. Its presence within the city is divided among three important sites: the downtown campus at Arcisstrasse, Olympic Park, and the university clinics. Downtown campus: In addition to the Board of Management, four Faculties are based on the historic main campus at 21 Arcisstrasse: Architecture, Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the TUM School of Management. The university itself does not own any halls of residence. The majority are run by the Munich Student Union (Studentenwerk). The student union offers its students a total of almost 10,000 rooms and apartments in Munich, Freising and Rosenheim. The rental costs for student accommodation are between £136 and £272 per month (€160 to €330). Waiting times are between one and four semesters, depending on the halls of residence.
